Introduction to the Securities and Futures Commission of Hong Kong, China

The Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) of Hong Kong was established in 1989. It is an independent statutory body responsible for regulating the operation of the securities and futures markets in Hong Kong. The Securities and Futures Ordinance and its subsidiary legislation give the SFC the power to investigate, correct and impose disciplinary sanctions. The SFC operates independently from the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and its funding mainly comes from transaction levies and license fees. As a financial regulator of an international financial center, the SFC has been committed to strengthening and maintaining the integrity and soundness of Hong Kong's securities and futures markets, thereby protecting the interests of investors and the industry.
