What is scalping in forex and is it effective?

Scalping is a trading style that involves making many quick trades to capture small price movements, often just a few pips at a time. Scalpers hold positions for seconds or minutes, aiming to accumulate profits through high-frequency trading. Effective scalping requires low spreads, fast execution, and high liquidity, making ECN accounts and reliable brokers essential. Traders often rely on technical indicators like moving averages or stochastic oscillators to time entries. While scalping can be profitable, it is very demanding, requiring focus, discipline, and the ability to make fast decisions under pressure. It also generates higher transaction costs, which can eat into profits if spreads or commissions are high. Scalping is generally more suitable for experienced traders with access to advanced tools, and less ideal for beginners who may struggle with the speed and risk involved.
